Hi Paul .. I too have Addison's Disease; currently insulin resistant but blood sugars are ok. HbAlc 5.8% last count. But I do have elevated titre of anti GAD antibodies (greater than 500). Did you get Addisons First or Type 1 and how long have you had it? I've had Addisons for 16 years.

Hi, I got Addison's first, 18 years ago, had T1 8 years this month, find it a constant battle to balance the 2 even after all this time, Hba1c last time was high sevens so still some way to go

Think your the first person in 18 years I've spoken to who has Addison's disease too!

Ah yes we Addisonians are a rare breed but there are several on this forum, likely because like you they have Type 1 diabetes as well. ShellyC has Type 1 and Addisons. Have you ever had a crisis? Touch wood I haven't but I must admit I have been taking it a lot more seriously of late, carrying some hydrocortisone in my bag and wearing a Medic Alert etc. I am getting a C-Peptide test next visit to the Endo .. I have several relatives with diabetes but not sure if it was Type 1 or 2 .. trouble it they're all dead so nobody left to ask! Must have got the antibodies from somewhere though :-(

Unfortunately yes, crisis has become normal these past few weeks for me, an adjustment in my medication sent me into crisis 3 weeks ago, 3 hospital admissions and a day visit later and hopefully things are sorted, need to start being more serious about it and my T1, and hopefully health improvements will follow

Must be hard having the 2 to worry about ... like you say, you really have to look after yourself. I got a telling off from ShellyC cos this morning I only had one hydrocortisone tab left. I thought I had another bottle in my handbag but must have used it. You really have to put your health before everything else ... I had been putting a new job first, hence run out of meds. Stupid as the job and I came to a parting of the ways; unfortunately you can't part ways with these diseases, we're stuck with them. Hope you get back on track soon -)

Hello Paul and welcome to the forum. Glad to see that a member who has Addison's has answered. I expect there will be more too soon.

Unfortunately yes, crisis has become normal these past few weeks, 3 admissions to hospital and a day visit after med levels were changed have left me feeling rather unwell, but still here, need to get more serious myself, have a medic alert bracelet on order, should have done it years ago.
