Hello all,

It's been a little while.

As some may remember, I'm going through a hard time (Divorce, homeless etc) and trying to sort my life around.

For about 10 months now I've not really watched what I've eaten etc and that's all on me. Two days ago I checked my blood sugars for the first time is forever, they were 22!! Well that gave me a bit of a fright and a kick up the ****.

I didn't eat all day until tea time yesterday and it was low carb (Sausages, bacon, Eggs) and I've not eaten since last night around 7pm. Checked my blood sugars last night and today (I know for a while the morning always seems elevated) but they are still around 12!

My question from the more knowledgeable is how long of being good before my sugars will begin to drop below 7? Does it take a while for the body to expel the excess blood sugars?

I need a total reset and my need to get my mindset back in the game.

Sorry to hear of all your problems @ViolaterUK.
As you have type 2 and I have Type1, our management of diabetes are different and it would be remiss of me to answer your question.
But I wanted to suggest a hand wash and second finger prick next time you see a high number. It is best to be sure your reading is correct before panicking.
And to send you a virtual hug.

Some sausages are high in carbs and did you put sauce on your breakfast that usually shoots my bg up , but away from that you seem to be doing well to drop from a bg of 22 down to 12 so carry on and all the best for your future .

Low carb and intermittent fasting are powerful tools but it can take some time to get your levels back where you would like them.
Remember that in the last 10 months your body has been desperately trying to clear the glucose from your blood. It will have been pushing it into every nook and crannie it can find, clearing it out is going to be quite a job.
I agree with @In Response though, it always pays to check an unusually high test result by doing a second test. Faulty or out of date strips, even something on your fingers can sometimes cause scarily high numbers
