Have you got much weight to lose?

What is your diet like? Post a few meals and we can offer some comments on what yo can do to improve it.

Can you increase your exercise?

I know that with diabetes if you dont make the effort things dont change. I did really well initially and improved so much I thought I as cured, I let things slip though. You have to stay focussed. It's easy to say, 'well one wont matter' but things mount up.

Beans like Heinz beans? They are like carbs in a sugar sauce. Delicious, but best avoided for good bg. Toast, sandwiches, pizza, rice, pasta, shepherds pie topping and carrots are also high carb. A bit of tweaking and you will see a big improvement in your big levels :)

Have a look at this link for a diet to help lower your bg

I have been following this advice and lost 2 stone since Christmas. I am never hungry and my bg is much improved. I don't get in double figures now.

Lots of us have had great results by cutting back on carbs, There are quite a lot of carbs in your foods above.
In simple terms carbohydrates turn into glucose..raising blood sugar. If you read around the forum you will see lots of posts about this.

I love the book Carbs and Cals...it will show you photos of real food portions and list the carbs, cal, fibre, fat etc. Really eye opening that some portions of pasta, bread and rice will have more carbs (sugars) than chocolates.
Avoid bread rice pasta ( or switch to wholemeal if you must have them), cereals, potatoes as well as obvious things like sugary snacks.

Have eggs, cheese, salad, yoghurt, berries, vegetables, make pasta sauce and use ribbons or courgettes instead of spaghetti, have curry or chilli served with cauliflower rice, roast cauliflower instead of potatoes, stir fries.
Have wraps made from lettuce leaves instead of bread sandwiches.

It will make a difference in a week or two if you cut right back and exercise, even if it's just walking more

Hi, cutting back on carbs will help you no end,
as for the ivf i cant see no reason why being type 2 would stop you having it,i know others who have:)

You haven't made a mistake, you have taken advice in good faith. The doctor and dietician will tell you to eat plenty of pasta, rice and potatoes. In my opinion (others will disagree) this is terrible advice.

If you give the carb reduction a week and test test test, you will be able to make up your own mind. Whatever you are doing now is not working so you have nothing to lose :)

Have a look at the low carb links I posted. Plenty of breakfast ideas. This morning I had fried eggs and quorn sausages. Very nice. Others have

Yoghurt and berries
Bacon and eggs
Omelettes
Last night's leftovers
Low carb pancakes
Breakfast muffins
