I accidentally injected myself again in the same day with victoza I injected my 1.2 dose this morning and instead of injecting my evening meal insulin dose I picked up the wrong pen and injected victoza instead has anyone else done this? I rang my GP surgery and spoken to the nurse but she just told me to check my bms often and not take my evening insulin dose but I am a little concerned should I be?

I'm sure you should be concerned.

If it means you'll be unsure of blood sugar levels whilst you're asleep tonight, it could be very serious.

You could stay awake and keep checking. But of course, you may fall asleep inadvertently.

The best thing I can suggest is that you don't want to be on your own, with no-one to check up on you if you do go hypo.

I once made a similar mistake: I injected 11 units of Novorapid instead of Actrapid. (The former has a far more rapid effect.) Fortunately, I realised immediately what I had done. And I rode it out okay.

I avoid long-acting insulins precisely because I am very anxious about going to sleep at night with any significant amount of insulin active within me.

I'm sorry, I'd better raise my hand and admit I wrongly assumed that 'victoza' was the name of an insulin.

Thanks for your reply and advice.I am not alone thankfully so I will have my husband keep an eye on me hopefully he wont fall asleep either!I hope I will be okay during the night I do know that victoza can cause nausea so since I injected 3 hours ago I have had none fingers crossed :)

Pardon my ignorance but what is victoza?
I thought it was an insulin too!
