Hello

like most here, my head hearts the more I read different websites. This site appears to be the best, but you know what it's like when you are worried.

I'm poss pre-diabetes will go to gp in few weeks for another test.

Lost about one and half stones since reducing food intake ( massively cut down cakes, crisps, chocolates, mash and chips)but alcohol on the weekends a bit more difficult to reduce. Doing a bit more walking

My question - please do your best estimate.

Lunch Monday to Friday at work since last 2 months is: Two Burgens soya/linseed slices of bread with Flora marg, full teaspoon of sweetcorn from can, teaspoon of mayonnaise, mixed in Tuna in spring-water use 3 cans of the small tin used over five days, so about ?? tuna used per day, ie about 80 grams a day, and lettuces with a Coke Zero. what is the approximate GL please.

hope its clear, but below anther effort:

Two slices of Burgens soya/linseed bread.
medium cover with Flora margerine.
80grams of Johnwest Tuna in no drain Spring-water.
teaspoon of canned sweetcorn.
teaspoon of Hellmans mayonnaise
Two slices of leetuces.
Can of 250ml Coke Zero

what is the approx GL please

There is nothing there to worry about, I would be careful with the sweetcorn, not to much at a time, and a teaspoon isn't much. The rest is fine and is lowish carbs and I guess, GI and GL. The Burgen bread is probaby the highest GI/GL/Carbs but I most of us can eat one or two slices without problems.

There is something about Coke zero that I can't quite put my finger on, but I always get higher readings when I have drunk it, so I don't drink it any more.
A good GI list can be found by doing a Google search for something like Glycæmic Index.com

Hello Hallii

I was hoping for at least one response before bed, so thank you.

I used to have a lot more sweetcorn but have cut down.

Re Coke Zero, thanks for that.

You are probably in bed by now! Not sure about GL of the bread but I know it is one of the better breads with a low carbo "exchange" because of all the seeds in it. I love it and you can make a decent sambo with 2 slices.

Thanks - the bread is about 4.6gl per slice - I don't know why i did not start to eat it earlier

Just had an idea. What if I was to eat this meal twice a day, ie once at lunck with the Coke Zero, and then for dinner around 6pm with a bit of mustard, half a tamaoto and cup of tea no sugar and did this 3 times a week, ie mondays, wed and thursday - it would have a total GL of about 12 per session - is that correct?
