In one of your previous posts today you have said that you drink 3litres of beer a day and"starve yourself" in an effort to control blood sugar (which is really not the way to control blood sugar) and sometimes only eat an egg or 4 slices of bread and you never eat fruit and vegetables. If your concerned you are too thin, with a diet like that and an correct belief that blood sugar control requires not eating, you migh be malnourished. You could probably do with actually eating proper meals, and bolusing for them

Speaking purely from a dietary rather than a diabetic pov, that's really not good. Do you have an eating disorder that you're prepared to talk about? You need to eat, sensibly. I've been borderline alcoholic and diabetic for years, know of which I speak after a lot of research.

Dump the booze, make realistic plans to gain weight to a healthy point and increase exercise. Promise, you'll feel so much better and live so much longer. :D

When I was healthy I also had poor eating habits I used to eat a chocolate bar and a cooldrink for the whole day. but the days when I ate more made up. But with diabetes I easily loose 1 or 2 kg a day

Your body NEEDS a certain amount of protien and some fats, but not carbs. Your body also NEEDS vitamins etc which you will only get from fruit or vegetables.

Please, do yourself a favour and sort out a variety of meats/fish/cheese, and a variety of vegetables (including green vegs) to get these essential nutrients into your body. Some fruit could be included, if you're careful, but they will contain some/a lot of fructose, aka sugar.

I make no apology for being a bit blunt but it's necessary for you to understand this. If necessary, perhaps you could discuss with your GP and maybe you'll get a referral to a Dietitian

Wishing you all the best :)

The carbs help me to maintain my 55-57 kg body. I'll probably have to eat much more protein and fat to have the effect of carbohydrates and I just can't afford that food, meat and fruit and vegetables are expensive. So iv decided to just eat bread...but i do eat meat and fish if available.

Huh? But this makes no sense. Bread is probably the worst food for a T2, and a carb-heavy diet isn't cheap because it's not filling. Sorry, don't get it.

I'm trying to gain weight because I'm very skinny I feel like I could have already gone to the grave with the way I look

The diabetes is a very limiting factor when it comes to eating because there's a constant worry about blood sugar levels....it's a daunting task

Yes that's why I'm here for good advice cause I'm really struggling....I feel like the walking dead

You have also said on another thread that your sugars are usually 10-15. If your blood sugar is constantly in double figure, that's probably why you aren't gaining weight, your body is just peeing out anything you are taking in from the bread.

You've done a very wise thing. I can't empathise fully because I've so far avoided a diagnosis, but the people here are lovely and can answer any question you have. Is it burn-out? I've seen that mentioned by a few members and there is always help, someone who understands.

No I have pain in my head like migraines and my chest hurts somedays worse than others it's not very painful but it concerns me it could be the beer or high blood sugar I don't know. Then there are times that I just feel awful, like dying then I get very anxious and test my blood sugar and if it's high try and get it down as quick as possible.....it's a bad disease.... difficult!!!

The head pain gets really bad at times feels like my brain is being clamped!! Aaarrggg!!

Are you checking your blood sugar levels regularly and speaking to your diabetes team? As I said, I only have second or third hand knowledge of diabetes, particularly T1, but you really need to see your doc. I do know that high bs levels can lead to complications which are very much to be avoided. Don't take any chances - go to your DSN and/or specialist. This is your life, you need to take every opportunity to make it as good as possible.

I don't really have support here I'm mainly just on my own....all doctors have told me so far is get my sugar under control....seems like they don't know what's wrong with me....I'm just trying very hard to get my sugar down in the hope that I can reverse how bad my body feels

For years now iv been feeling like the walking dead I don't know if that feeling is part of the complications.
