Suffering diabetic type of symptoms. I bought a Acu-Check meter.
Symptoms are lightheaded, faint like symptoms, severe "hunger" abnormal
excessive, but nothing like appetite, palpitatons, ectopic beats.

Here are todays results, would be grateful for your input, and if this warrants
asking GP for a glucose challenge test. Up to now, he refuses...Many thanks

07:15 am Strong symptoms BS level 7.6
07.55 6.2

08:30-09:30

11:30 PG 6.7
13:51 6.2

14:20 Lunch
15:09 PG 8.9
18:09 13.5

19:30-20:30 Dinner
21;12 (1 hr ltr) 4.1
21:50 Bananas + dates 5.8 (fell unwell as if fainting..)
22:17 4.1

hi, i was told by the doctor on the night of my diagnosis when questioning it, that if you go above 11 your diabetic simple as that, this may well be nonsense as most other things ive been told by them have been but that it what they said, the 13.5 would make me insist on tests, maybe pay lloyds pharmacy (if in the uk) to do a hba1c blood test i think its about £30 just an idea, best of luck

Hi Quirky,
Keep doing what you're doing - monitoring your bloods and making a note of them and how you feel and book up another appointment with your doctor for next week so that you can show them the data.
Andy12345 is right that 13.5 is high enough to be in diabetic range. What concerns me though is your record at 21:50 at 5.8 where you were feeling unwell, ate banana and dates, yet 30mins later your blood glucose levels had fallen, when they should have gone up.
Be sure to make sure you wash your hands before you test - as contaminants can affect your readings, and if you have a reading that seems unusual test again to be sure.

Let us know how you get on.:)

Hi Bebo: thanks for the reply. Will keep it for a couple of weeks, there is so little known about that diabetes, that staying within the confines of regulations and guidelines can be deadly!! It may be worth keeping a log for one month, to see a pattern emerge. Same with other diseases, and tests, are supporting evidence of clinical symptoms. The log at 5.8 is rather strange, and yes, why did I have such strong symptoms that I was going to call for an ambulance, I literally felt faint...As for the high reading of 13.5 this could be a fluke...who knows, the fluctuations and how the patient feels should be taken in consideration. Yet, I know those who were diabetic and had no symptoms!! Others have strong symptoms for many years, normal BG, end p in a diabetic coma, even other tests were normal..

What do you know and understand about your diabetes so far? What's your current strategy?

The theory about diabetes is an ongoing debate, as with other diseases, as are tests for diabetes, reference range, and diagnosis. In trth doctors know very little....As for hba1c test, this is also not a reliable marker, again, on going debate. I tend to follow instinctual need towards specific foods at present, and this seems to help. Strangely, I felt I needed niacin, found out nicain helps with diabetes, and that I am deficient. Interesting...same for cheese, and beans. Seems to help..I did the hba1c test last year privately, it came back normal, but then, I was eating cinnamon to control the symptoms. I found out afterwards, that eating cinnamon prior to tests will result as normal. Same for catecholamines, eating bananas, pineapples and some other foods, will result in higer reference range. Choice of food could either be healing or damaging..

According to on going basic theory, type 2 diabetes, is when the patient produces insulin, but it does not attach to receptors, and type 1 not producing insulin? I did in depth research some years back, and gave up, ended up in a maze without exit. The one thing I consider most important is to do much report before adhereing to any diets or life style modification, and most importantly, is to also listen to what your body tells you. Medical guidelines change, and many die listening blindly to dietary guidelines of the day, or what their doctors tell them to do. Strategy after more research: contine to eat what I feel alleviates my symptoms, research, Ayurvedic Medicine, taking vits and supps, aiming at reversing naturally, without meds.
Whats your strategy?

I stopped eating carbs. - huge big smile and now I hope I won't go blind.

Edit: Oh and I use my meter like a maniac and plot my results using the pc app for it. Seeing it makes it real. Costs me a bomb, but my eyes are worth it

Based on the BS data & symptoms, are they ty[pical of Diabetes Type 1 or Type 2
Is this how yours fluctuate? With similar symptoms?

Could it be another disease entirely, which can also cause fluctuations in BS, and same
symptoms as diabetes?

Symptoms of abnormal hunger pangs, dizziness, confusion, palpitations (fast heart beat
and ectopic beats), weakness, faint like, never sated by any types of foods, etc.. always present
regardless of BS status.. no relief.

See log for Friday till today. Many thanks. Need to be informed
and know what tests to ask my GP other than glucose challenge tes.
