Hello,
I would be really grateful for anyones assistance, please.
I have an 18 month old daughter that drinks an awful lot of liquid day in and day out. To the point that I am changing her nappy when I go to bed and she is still 'flooding' overnight. Now, this may be that I simply have a little guzzle-guts. Entirely possible, as I myself like a lot of liquid, always having a drink 'on the go'.
However.....I, myself, have Type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed at the age of 7 (quite a few years ago now!
). It occurred to me that she may have diabetes, so being the concerned mommy that I am, and having obviously access to my own kit, I did a blood test on her this morning. It was 7.3 mmol. This was 90 minutes after a very large breakfast (she's going through a monster growth spurt), as we were about to shoot off out the door on the way to nursery/work.
I thought that 7.3mmol was perfectly acceptable after such a large breakfast, but guidance online suggests that this may still be on the high side.
Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer on this, please? If she is diabetic, she is diabetic, and we will deal with it. But having had T1 myself for best part of 30 years, not something I would wish on my child. Despite being level headed in everything in life, Im worrying a bit now!
Thanks
