Hi all
So in Jan 22 told hbac1 was 51 in April was 38 and as I had lost weight better diet lifestyle my dr was astonished that drop in 3 months and i didnt take the metoformun initially prescrubed. Roll on to Sept and hbac1 risen to 44!! i am gutted weight stabilised but still lost over 2 half stone since Jan 22 and only thing that changed from July to now was 2 week cruise in July and no exercise during summer due to heatwave I tried best to do low carb on hols and weekends away I do eat 3 bits dark 80% or more choc a day as a treat and 2 ryvitas for lunch n cheese and no alcholol since back from cruise so question is would the no exercise cause such a rise Anyway i been so gutted today but i am back from tonight finger prick tests again no ryvitas and 1 bit choc anybody else had such a rise?but honnestly my diet choice is same as was when embarked on this journey other than lunch choice which now has to go but perhaps portion size has increased i.e tablespoon yoghurt instead of 2 teaspoons I feel lost and bit desperate if honnest as if i had lapaed back to crisps and takeaway and bread and potatoes and fruit buns etc etc I would think well theres your anawer but i haven't Please help with advice if can

Breakfast is usually eggs orientated with bacon mushrooms sometimes cheese omelette etc or porridge up to twice week with berries and pecans Never miss breakfast

Lunch 2 ryvitas cheese greek yog with berries 3 bits choc and apple

Dinner either steam fish or a fresh meat fish with plenty veggies with berries and yog to follow and for snack some nuts and cheese apple and a low carb snack bar daily

porridge up to twice week with berries
Could be this porridge. Could be size of berry portions

2 ryvitas
Could be this
berries 3 bits choc and apple
Or the fruit or the chocolate
snack some nuts and cheese apple and a low carb snack bar daily
Or snacks, especially if daily or 2 daily

Do you have a bg meter? This would help you spot any culprits or whether it's just carbs and calories creeping up.
You could also consider:
Intermittent fasting (skipping the odd meal)
Increasing regular exercise

Plenty more yet for you to try. Just tweaks really.

Hi mrsA2 i did in beginning of diagnosis for 3 months take readings morning before dinner and after and before bed if had snack some good some bad teadings but something was working well to drop to 38 from 5I i never did readings after snack which i thunk will now. Portions may be answer as i think i have increased due to beung hungry Anyway checked my blood before dunner tonight i kept the portion size tonight on upside and will look in 2 hours and then see what readung is as dont feel want reduce portions and consider what on plate healthy but for example 6 blackberries 6 raspberries and 6 strawberries with creme freshe and sprinkle nuts or peacans is that too big?i have always been conscious of reaching 5 a day otherwise belly feels sluggish when have days cant get to fruit or veg in amundance ha ha To be honnest i feel back to square 1 but only saving grace is weight stayed off allbeit stabalized I do have days where if have latish breakfast say 10 i dont eat lunch as have dinner bit earlier at 4 ish and this suits my digestion as eating late at 7 hives me reflux all night so assumwvthis is mimi fasting? Thanks for reply

Your meter will tell you.
For you, It may be OK one meal for example, but not when added to by 2 other fruits a day
Testing again for a while may well bring you back on track

Those are some pretty great stats though I'm curious to know how you might react to different things such as the chocolate. I had bought dark chocolatee but find it hard to have a large bar in the house. All the best for getting it lower.

Hi linmarie.
Yes my HBA went down to 41. I was on cloud 9. I had a few weeks when I was I’ll and it rose to 44 also. I’ve also gained weight up 5lb now. With not much of a change in diet.
I’m feeling so tired of the constant struggle. I’ve been Dirt controlled for 6/7 years now. I know how awful you must feel jumping so may numbers. I don’t feel there is any support for pre diabetics.
When diagnosed I was told “ Don’t test eat normally” if I followed that bad advice I’m sure I’d be type 2 by now.
I sympathise I’m in a similar situation, Diabetes is a curse.
Sending my best wishes.

I’m relatively new to low carbing so haven’t had courage to not test at moment. Would the cruise and the odd weekend with friends have affected it to that extent? Choices in alcohol as well? I know mine spikes when I’ve chosen what looks like lowish carb meal but obviously isn’t, when eating out, haven’t had much in the way of alcohol to see what happens. I’m currently using libre 2 who are offering free trial for 2 weeks and I’ve self funded for further 4 weeks to see what happens. I don’t know how accurate it is but it also gives hba1c which may act as a guide at least

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
It can take a while for BG to become what "normal" is for a person. When first diagnosed I can remember thinking my BG would be okay as I had had what I considered to be a healthy virtually carb free meal, only to be in the 15 region. My levels are getting a lot better now but I think it takes time, perseverance and how much you want to change. We all slip up from time to time after all we are all human. I can be extremely critical of myself at times regarding my BG though.
