I think it's probably the pasta. Nothing you can do until tomorrow.

If I ate pasta I would also be in double figures. I also find exercise increases my levels, whereas others say they drop quickly. Just goes to show how different we all are.

If you are nurturing an infection of some sort, this may well have an impact.

Whilst I don't know the whole story, obviously, it does sound like you've overdone the carbs. Many people have reported upset tummies when they've had a few too many carbs when taking Metformin.

Very few people can successfully eat pasta, as they find it may bring a slow climb, but it takes a long time for their bloods to drop back into their normal ranges. When you say you're usually fine on pasta, what sort of blood scores do you have afterwards?

Laura, I too am normally fine on pasta, couple of recent examples before Lasagne 5.1 post 5.9 two weeks ago and this week 6.3 before post 6.6.

First day of a heavy cold couple of months back did go up 10.2 after a meal containing pasta which do not get anywhere near that level normally. So if you are like me it does point to your bug affecting your levels.

I had bad diarrhoea last weekend and whilst still within correct ranges was higher before and after meals where I had been for weeks although had not had any pasta in this time and increases were only marginally different than my usual after meal reads. Indeed back down to what are normal levels for me now I am over it before and after.

Hope you soon feel better, I have seen GPs a couple of times this week after my bug last weekend and one of them did say that when fighting an infection it can cause your levels to rise and fall quite sharply and bounce around all over the place as he put it.

As one of the other respondents says we are all different it would seem in what we can consume carb wise, so if you are normally alright would suggest another factor such as your diarrhoea to me.
