I have got a bit of hard skin under my big toe. I've had to wear safety shoes at work for the last 3 weeks. Anyway, these have been making that bit of my toe hurt. This week it's also been hurting in my usual shoes on and off. Just stood on it in the shower and it hurt so looked at it and there's a hole in the middle of the lump of skin. Does this mean I'm gonna have to get my foot cut off? I'm scared.

Since Wednesday I've had a fever, headaches, felt sick and run high sugars in their 20's I just can't bring down and my ankle on that side aches, do you think it's infected?

if I were you I would go to A&E as its the weekend and doctors are not open.
DONT wait to get it looked at.
try not to worry im sure with treatment it will clear up quickly.
also dont wear them safety shoes again some of them steel toe cap shoe shoes are notrorious for causing corns and blisters for anybody even non diabetics!
speak to your line manger about providing you better quality shoes some of the branded ones like caterpillar and dewalt are better. your employer has a legal responsibilty to provide safety equipment FREE of charge even if this means that its a more expensive product if you have a genuine medical reason for needing an alternative to standard issue they provide.
really before any PPE is issued it should have been assessed for individual suitabilty and I dont think cheap safety shoes if thats what they are suitable for a diabetic.
let us know how you get on.

As others have said get this looked at over the weekend for your own peace of mind.

The safety shoes are obviously causing you problems with your feet, tell your employer that they are not suitable for your feet and refuse to wear them again or until a alternative pair is issued, should they try to argue or discipline you for refusing to wear them take this up with your safety/union representative or alternatively the HSE. Diabetics must protect their feet without question and ill-fitting footwear can lead to complications, so do remind your employer of their obligation to your health and safety.

Thanks Guys. Had a closer look and it's not a hole. But it's a bit red under the hard skin :?: We have a walk in centre and will make my way down as soon as my BF finishes work.

Yes, I have ketones although have my sugars down to 10mmol at the mo.

I will also be telling my Manager, I have a letter from my consultant as this happened once before, well, got blisters.
