This could well be the result of illness. Our blood sugars sometimes go up before even any symptoms appear so this is one possibility.
I've been caught with something similar this week. Blood sugars rocketing up and doing my best to keep things down. Last night I had just scrambled egg for tea -with some but not too much short term insulin- to keep the sugar levels under control. I could have upped my insulin instead but personally I find this to be more of a gamble.
DAFNE has sick day rules which I believe suggest upping insulin doses by a certain percentage when ill. Perhaps someone has a link to such sick day rules?
If your daughter needs to up her insulin, it's recommended to check her sugar levels more often than usual and it can be worthwhile doing so overnight to prevent any hypos happening whilst she's sleeping.
I would contact your daughters diabetes team and ask them for guidance on how to lower her bg, as Alaska says illness can seriously send bg readings sky-high but the best people to advise you on how to reduce them is her HCP's.
i tried contacting the diabetes centre...no paediatric nurses on today and other diabetic nurses not available...phoned childrens ward...nurse spoke to dr on ward. nurse will phone consultant sec and to wait for call......bm now 26 as had some soup.....enough enough...get hold of gp receptionist and getting emergency prescription...ready at 4pm

my mum had the same problem once with thyroxine tablets so don.t always think its you...it may be just a bad batch
thank you for all your swift replies xx
Glad it is looking better for you - keep an eye on her. I've had something like that happen when my insulin was a bit too hot during summer in my bag, and it kicked in with hours of delay. Don't want to worry you, but measure a bit more often.
