Hi there, im new to the site.. ive been T1 diabetic for about 6-7 years and the last few years ive struggled to get my hba1c below 8, mainly due to bad diet and lack of exercise..
Im 25 (in 2 weeks), slightly overweight at 14 stone, and 6 foot tall.
Ive decided enough is enough, the time has come to finally sort myself out, physically and my diabetes.
My main problem is definately my diet.. ive never really been given any good advice by the doctors with regards to what to eat etc. Ive found my BG is alot higher when I wake up than it was when I went to bed. It could be 6-7.5 when I go to sleep, and 14-16 when i wake up. My diabetes nurse toldme to increase my Lantus but it isnt making any difference at all.
Insulin wise I take 34 units of Lantus Solostar in the morning, then Novorapid after every meal (i vary how many units depending on what eat)
Ive decided im going to train towards running a half marathon in exactly 6 months time. I will be doing alot of running and some weight training.
Basically I need advice on what foods to eat to lower my hba1c, lose weight, and generally improve my health/fitness for the half marathon. My cholesterol is also slightly high due to my bad diet. I have been using Flora Pro Active yoghurt drinks every morning, and I do feel better since using them, although I havent yet been back to have my cholesterol checked since I started.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Kind Regards
Sean
