I do not have diabetes
I am not diabetic as far as i know, but over the last 6-7 month or so, iv'e been letting myself go when it comes to my diet. Basically, iv'e been eating a considerable amount of carbs and sugars, and recently began experiencing certain symptoms, (fatigue, frequent urination, hunger) that the internet associates with diabetes. Up until now i credited those symptoms to the fact that I'm in the military in my country, so not a lot of food (hunger) and not a lot of sleep (fatigue) and i've been a going to the bathroom more than the average for as long as i remember myself (took a urine test few years back, nothing came back), but i decided that i wanted to see for myself by doing a blood sugar test. My grandfather have two blood testing kits, one supposably more advanced than the other. They both worked fine for him over the years (he died a year ago due to unrelated circumstances), so i took a few tests in both, just to get as accurate as i can. Here are the results

First kit (less advanced one)
First test-112
Second test-120
Third test - 95
Fourth test - 103

Second kit (supposably more advanced one)

First test - 93
Second test - 88

All 6 tests were done after 8+ hours of fasting, and as you can see, there's some contradiction between the results, with the blood sugar level varies drastically between the different kits, and in the less advanced one, the numbers changed drastically in the last two tests. Over all, I'm not sure what to make of these numbers, because of how different and changing they are. I know the most accurate way would be to get it tested in a clinic, but since im in the military, getting an appointment is difficult, so i was hoping anyone here with similar experience would be able to help me make some logic of my many test results. Over all, I'm a very active person, i work out and run close to every day and in a good shape. I have no history of type 2 diabetes, nor does anyone of my family as far as I'm aware. Can anyone here give me some advice? A huge thanks in advance to anyone who will take the time to answer back to me and maybe help me calm down a bit because i'm really freaking out now.

Hi @mike_12345 and welcome to the forums

I have to be a little careful about what I say because we can't diagnose on the forums but I can say a little bit about blood testing meters.

Firstly, meters are designed to be accurate to within 15% of a lab reading 95% of the time, so a bit of variation is to be expected.

Secondly, if your grandfather died a year ago you might want to check whether the testing strips are within their use by date. (They do go off when they get old)

Finally, all those readings look to be in the normal range to me, though I don't know when you are testing. (Your blood sugar might be high at other times). If you are worried by your symptoms you could see your doctor who could do an hba1c test, which would give you an average of your blood sugars over the last 3 months, and probably be much more informative than a few one off blood sugars.

Once more welcome.

Hi, as you have said you are freaking out, I’d recommend a Hba1c test.

Your doctor should be able to get your one. Or you can get one done privately somewhere like medichecks for not too much.
