Posted this in another thread but no response yet and I just wondered how to get round my problem....

I am meeting a friend at the shopping centre tonight for a little shopping then a meal. The problem is I do not know what to do about taking my Byetta....I will be leaving home more than an hour before we eat so where do I go to take it? I am certainly not going into a public toilet to do it. Is it frowned upon to do it discreetly in public?

I would like to know how others get round this please.

I'm on insulin and I take it whenever wherever it's needed. At the table in a restaurant, in the break room at work, this weekend on the sidelines of the football pitch before the match.

at first i was a bit self conscious about doing it in public but after a few times it was ok. I actually find that people don't notice, i've never had anyone say anything,. I can do it at a restuarant and my girlfriend will ask me if I've done my insulin as she didn't even notice me doing it.

I'm on insulin and at first I would go to the bathroom at work or when out to take my insulin. but why should anyone have to take meds in a toilet. now I just inject at the table just slip the pen under my shirt no one knows and what does it matter if they do.

enjoy your evening out :)

Thank you both. I managed to inject at the table discreetly. Bit harder for a woman tho when you have to inject in the stomach!!!!

It is amazing that we seemed to be frowned upon for not wanting to jab ourselves in public loos.If in restaurants I just have my insulin discreetly where I'm sat. Recently,my brother was rushed into hospital and the paramedics were queuing with their trolleys just to get into A & E. After some wait I started to feel a bit wobbly, so got my test kit out and discreetly started to test my blood sugars.A paramedic behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said "there's a loo over there" but as I had seen the stream of people use it, no way did I even want to touch the door handle. (We're often at the hospital with my brother and I drive to Asda loos down the road when I need to "go" as they are 10 times cleaner than the hospitals.)
