I am normally on a half unit of nova rapid for every cp I eat but lately just at breakfast I've found my post meal readings high so I changed to a 1:1 ratio. After 2 hours my reading was 6.6 but then an hour later I was hypo. So this morning I used a 0.75:1 ratio and after 2 hours I was 19.2!!! I eat the same breakfast every morning and have recently been sick with a throat infection but it has really improved and cleared up over the past couple of days! Any ideas??
Recent illness will certainly have affected your readings. Repeat for a few days and record your numbers. Maybe go back to your regular dose of 0.5 units and see what happens now you feel better. Have you adjusted basal insulin at all ?
I'm feeling a lot better today and throat has cleared up and I even used a 0.75:1 ratio this morning but I'm now 19.2!! Yes I'm in Levemir and have taken an extra unit in the morning and evening.
Glad you feel better. Try the 1 unit to 10g tomorrow and see how you get on. If that doesn't work, you may need to test your basal again. Hope it settles down soon !
