My dad died from diabetes when I was 2 so I have been very cautious about looking for symptoms etc. For the past few months I have been having episodes where my vision goes funny and I can't see properly for a while and then once that has stopped I get an awful headache. This happens about twice a month I think. I haven't actually been diagnosed with diabetes but am wondering if this sounds like a symptom?

Hi karen10.

We cannot offer a diagnosis on the forum. The symptoms could be due to a myriad of things. You should visit your GP and discuss this.

hya karen and welcome,
you must see your gp as there are lots of ailments both serious and trivial that can have the same symptoms :D

Hi Karen,
Cugila is right, you do need to see your doctor, and probably an optician too, for an eye examination. Symptoms of Type-1 diabetes usually include thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, and general malaise. I remember having changes in my vision when I was diagnosed, but nothing like you describe.
You are worried enough to have come on this forum and ask advice, but your doctor is the best person to consult and hopefully he will put your mind at rest.
Hormones and all sorts of things can cause changes in vision and cause headaches, even stress and worry. So try not to.
Let us know how you get on :)
