Hi. I have type 1 and my mum has type 1 too. I remember how devastated she was when I was diagnosed @ 19 as she thought I had 'missed' it as I hadn't got it when she did at age 12. I know that my mum felt incredibly guilty that it was her fault I got it and to an extent she still does. I have never blamed her and told her she was being ridiculous. I wanted to say that although diabetes can be terribly tough at times I have found it incredibly helpful to have someone close to talk to about hypos, hypers, insulin doses, when it all gets a bit much etc. someone who is going through the same struggles and hope you and your son are able to support each other in the same way. This forum is a great place to ask for advice and support with lots of friendly people who want to help. I wish both you and your son all the best.
