Hi I went to help with my dd's swimming class and so missed lunch when I came home I was really hungry so I had two of the ryvita pumpkin seeded ones with two table spoons cottage cheese and my test just now is 8.7 ..surely ryvita are not that bad or was it my coffee (no sugar) or the cottage cheese ..have to say I'm very shocked

my ryvita are the origional ones and come up about 8g carbs each so could be those, i would try the same meal again another day and see, it may be the fact u missed a meal as my bloods rise a bit if i miss a meal

Have you checked the labels on the ryvita and the cottage cheese. Are there any surprise sugars, hidden in in there? Missed meal and rushing about could have caused your body to pump out a bit of glucose to keep you going - an emergency "liver dump". As Totsy says, above, try the meal again under more relaxed circumstances, unless of course label information explains it all.

No the cottage cheese does not have many carbs and the ryvita 7each I used no butter or anything else..thanks guys I will re try it I was quite shocked as it didn't seem much to eat

My BG sometimes bounces around a bit (for no good reason I can see). It won't be the plain coffee; ryvita is OK with me, as is cottage cheese - but we're all different so it's difficult to be certain.

8.7 isn't such a bad number to occasionally end up with and your liver might have been dumping some glucose in your system to keep you going (you did say you'd skipped a meal and were felling very hungry).

Suggest you don't write off the ryvita and cottage cheese just yet. Give them another go on a different day and see what happens.

Another thought, did you wash your hands and re-test after the 8.7 reading? Sometimes readings are crazy simply because of a pollutant and a simple wash and re-test sorts it all out.

No I didn't I never thought of that I will re try same meal again and double check but for tea I've had nice safe salad ;-)
