Heyah guys, i was wonderin if you could give me some advice?
Ive started goin to the toilet alot recently , a few times in the day and about 4 times at night..
However,Before i only went about twice a day and never at night. :|
My great granny was diabetic,so was my grandad and my dad is aswell.
Should i get checked out or is it nothing to worry about? :?
Has any of you had these symptoms?
Im 15.. Sally xox

Hi Sally,
If there's no logical explanation for the frequent loo trips, like you have been drinking a lot more that usual, then in view of your family history, you should get yourself checked at the docs as soon as possible. You have nothing to lose but possibly much to gain.

Hi Sally ,welcome to the forum.Have you discussed this with your mum and dad? I think it might be wise for you to get checked out just to put your mind at rest one way or the other. It could well be due to hormonal changes but it is best to get checked out given your family history..Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks Dennis, :)

Hey sue i havent had a chance really to discuss it with them yet, i will do though.
Is there anymore symptoms i should be watching out for?

Hi Sally,

I guess eveybody has different symptoms but for me it was the thirst, whatever I drank I was still soooo thirsty! And of course going to the loo all of the time. I also lost about a stone in weight even though I was eating about three chocolate bars a day.

Hope all goes well. x

if your dad has diabetes then get him to do a test on his meter (thats asuming he has one) and that will give you an indication if you need to see your GP.

chemists like Lloyds and Asda to free glucose tetsing, but I'm not sure if they have any age limits, anyone know?

Well we did the blood tester thing where you shoot it in your finger and u put the blood on the machine thing and my sugar level was fine.
Does that mean im ok ? or is there something else i need to get done to find out?? :? :?:

Well, in pre-diagnosis and in fact in the first year of being diabetic your body can often have "normal" periods where everything works fine. It's best to test at various times. Try when you're up at the bathroom at night if you can.
