Can someone please help? Diagnosed in October 16 and this evening have developed sickness and diarrhoea! I can't seem to keep anything down at all, not even sips of water? Any advice on how to keep my sugar level stable? Worried as it's my first illness since diagnosis!
Thanks

Test often and always take your basal insulin. If you can't keep anything down and your BGs are within target you needn't take short acting insulin. However, if you are running hyper, take correction doses to bring down your levels. Should you run lowish, try to take sweet drinks, little and often. If this doesn't work, call NHS 24, stressing you can't raise your BGs.
Stomach bugs are doubly nasty with Type 1. To add to the advice above, if you're low and so sick that you can't keep normal hypo treatments like Lucozade down, try a glucose tablet(s) held against the cheek so it can dissolve slowly. That worked for me when I had a bug last year.
Be prepared for erratic sugars and, hard as it is when you're feeling ill, keep testing frequently, especially if your blood sugar is very variable. Things can change quickly when you're ill.
