Hello there, fab hba1c so don't despair you are doing something right. I am a mum to a 15 year old and if you looked at his record book you would say he was badly controlled as he swings high and low all the time. These swings do affect his mood and hormones and exam stress do not help. We do not carbohydrate count despite being asked to. We guesstimate and have our own system. Our diabetic team think we're fab because whatever we are doing we are doing right as we always have good hba1c's. I think what i am trying to say is that, you are the one with diabetes, you know how your body feels and you obviously are keen to take control. The hospital team are there to advise and support, looks a bit dubious in your case. You have obviously lost confidence in your support network - will you soon transfer to the adult team? You can always discuss with your gp - remember your gp pays for your hospital care. Whatever you decide to do with your insulin regieme remember it is your choice. I would love my son to have a pump but he is adamant that he doesn't want anything attached to him reminding him he has diabetes. I respect that decision and would never dream of making him change just to please me. He has to live with this life long condition, i am just the person who checks his sugars in the middle of the night after he's been to a party! I know my place !
