help with blood sugar numbers please ?

Hello me again lol

So i have been experimenting with a little higher carb than i have been on since starting my lchf thing and its been 3 weeks and even though my bs went up to 8.4 after lunch it was only up by 1 point but after not eating for a few hours i am at 5.6 is that good or bad or to be expected. sorry if this sounds silly...i am going to attempt as an experiment a bit of intermittent fasting along with it as my fasting bs isnt where i want it
 
It sounds alright. If you want to understand your blood sugar variations, there is a 24 hour, 7 day monitor through a patch on your abdomen which takes readings hourly. Here in Australia it is available through your diabetic specialist, and it cost me about $60. You get a print-out and analyses of all the monitoring. It is particular useful to understand your night readings, particularly if you have morning spikes.

So the 8.5 after meals or under is for people on meds or non medicated folk or both ?
 
The 8.5 or less is for everyone, whether on meds or not. However, if you want to remain med free you will need to have an HbA1c of around 50 or less. That is the same as seeing an average of about 8mmol/l on your meter, and you need to remember that your post meal peaks can come at any time, usually between 1 and 2 hours. Sometimes 3 hours, and unless you test a lot more often you may never catch your peaks, and may never know how long you are staying up there before coming back down.

Thanks I will keep an eye of course I want it as far away from 8 as I can get but i will do my best I don't think I had enough fat with my lentils this afternoon
