Hi, great website, great forum. My main problem is too much info for my poor little brain to take in. If I could be selfish and explain MY situation in the hope that any feedback would be me specific. Here goes: Height 1.77m, weight 75.5Kg, don't drink or smoke, diet not great, diabetic control not great. I want to get the diet right to help in getting hold of the diabetic control again but with the following constraints.

I love meat, I can't help but 'graze' during the evening (don't suggest stopping this, it will just lead to failure), I am a keen cyclist, I don't just poddle about. When I ride, I RIDE. During this I need lots of carbs (hypos during rides have never been an issue). As you can see by my height/weight I do not carry excess weight but I do have a bit of a pot belly I'd be happy to lose.

Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

Hi dad and welcome to the forum.Fergus is the one you need to speak to.He is a great cyclist and he does it on very little carbs and no hypos.
There are many different threads on diets on the forum ,have a browse and see if one makes sense to you.

You realy don't need carbs to ride, dad. The guru himself, Lance Armstrong, trains on a low carbohydrate diet these days.
In my chaingang, it's the guys on the muesli and OJ who get dropped, and the bacon and eggs riders have given up waiting for them to catch up.

All the best,

fergus
