Help with doing readings

Hi everyone,

I've been diabetic for 8 years and I have had very little trouble with it, until recently.
I've started a new job working at a chemical plant. This job means I work shifts, (2 12 hour days, 2 12 hour nights then 6 days off). Due to the nature of the job, some days work can be extremely quiet, others can be very busy meaning I forget to do blood sugars, and I can't keep my monitor on me because the atmosphere on the job has the potential to become very explosive (similar to the rules with using phones at a petrol station)

Does anybody have any advice or tips on how I can get back on track with remembering to do readings?

I'd really appreciate any help, I've recently become very conscious of the fact that my poor control could lead to me going blind :(

Hi mike, this must be very hard. do you get aregular breaks?. Also chat with your boss and explain that u need to check your levels not only for your safety but also the employer as liability is a factor. They must allow u to check when needed.

Are u type 1 or 2?

Some type 1's .. As myself wear cgms.. But dint kniw if they can have same reaction at your workplace...

I used to work for trading standards checking diesel and petrol at garages and on tankers but was always allowed to check my bloods anywhere.....

Have been previously for interview at'probably the best lager' manufacturers in Northampton with huge distillery operations, but they to never saw pump, meter as a problem and was open about it..

Just hoping you not in Sellafield!!!

Just my experiences..but cgm not available to many.. But my experience of blood meters..
