can anyone help me, I went to bed last night my b/s were 7.6, on waking this am they were 13.1?? had chicken salad for tea and a small pear, no different to what I have each night, always have a salad for evening meal with a small piece of fruit, funny thing is I feel no different with that reading than if I was what I have been which is 5-7"s feel so disappointed as my levels have been low and steady for the last couple of weeks, I have been doing as I am supposed to correctly now thanks to you guys, my hba1c on the last on had come right down to 76,(opposed to the 93 it was) I have to have it 69 or below to have a much needed hysterectomy

Why do you need to have your HbA1c below 69 before you can have the hysterectomy?

Hey don't panic ! It's a blip, we all have them, some of us more than others. Providing you had the right amount of quick acting then it's probably down to one of many things - hormones, stress, infection, otherwise check your site for injection and check your insulin hasn't gone off, otherwise just be easy on yourself, no point getting stressed it will come right ;)

It could be a one off or, if it happens for the next couple of mornings, it could indicate you need to increase your basal.

thankyou, I do get stressed cos I have been waiting and trying to get a handle on this for nearly 2yrs now and I have now come so close,

thanks will keep an eye on it, would I increase by 1/2 units? i'm on 13 at present.

the gynie surgeons have said they will not operate unless it's 69 or below, he first told me I wouldn't come out the other side! my d.consultant was amazed and told me that was complete and utter rubbish, it's because of possible infection which has a dramatic effect on b/s levels. that's what I have been told.

I am insulin sensitive and would only make small increases to prevent me going hypo. 13 units of basal insulin is quite low so maybe you are also insulin sensitive.

I guess that's fair enough. If your BG levels are high, then wound healing would be affected, and there is greater risk of a serious infection like sepsis, for example. It's better to reduce that risk, for sure.

i'm sorry but I don't know what that means insulin sensitive, bit of a thicko when it comes to new things I don't understand, lol

Don't do anything on the back of one mornings readings, see what your bg levels are like tomorrow and try and do a 2-3am bg check to see which way your bg levels are heading.
