I've been doing a low carb diet since November last year and everything had been going well. been going to bootcamp and the gym regularly and have lost about a stone which I think Is fab for a t1 diabetic :). Any how over the past month I have not been as strict with my eating and over the last few weekends been eating things I shouldn't!!!:( since then I've become better at eating but have noticed that after meals of meat and veg I'm becoming very bloated. (no pain though) and having trouble going to the loo!!! Does anyone have any ideas of how to overcome this??? I've tried senna but still have a distended abdomen :(
Thank you :)

Hello

Are you suffering from water retention?

You can Google type 1 diabetes and water retention which will give you some excellent comparables.
You can eliminate excess fluid naturally, by incorporating foods such as celery, onion, eggplant, asparagus and watermelon into your diet, which are said to have a diuretic effect. In addition, the herbs hawthorn, corn silk, and parsley are used as diuretics in natural medicine. Some other natural diuretics include dandelion, ginger, and juniper.
So I would go and have a read see if you match the symptoms and then ask your doctor or adjust your diet IF required.
Note that for ladies certain types of the pill also can cause the symptoms you describe, again, check this with your doctor if applicable.
(Apologies , I'm not trying to imply you are on the pill, i hope you find some of this useful).

You also say you have a distended abdomen, so its tricky for you to handle excess fibre?
Some people respond well to probiotics for this and this maybe your simplest route to try first.
