Hi everyone,

I have just been to the doctors for my first H1bac results since being diagnosed in September 2011.
My HbA1c last year was 11.0
My results from Dec are as follows;

HbA1c 46
hdl 1.6
ldl 4.2
tryglycerides 1.2

Thers are no units next to the figures to tell me what they mean.
My doctor said the HbA1c was very low but not much more.
My blood pressure is 135/78.

I have been following a low carb diet since September.
My starting weight was 153kg and i am currently 129kg so i am very pleased with that.
I am still losing weight but need to know if what i am doing is good for my body inside.
Any help or advice would be gret .
Many thanks

Clint

Your HbA1c is 46 mmol/mol which is equivalent to 6.4% in the old (DCCT) units. Whilst I wouldn't say that that's very low it's certainly a good result.

I cannot comment on your blood lipids without referring to NICE guidelines (but this website may have information you seek)

The 'in range' figuers for cholesterol/Lipids after 12 to 14 hours fasting are as follows:

Trigs........0 to 2.3 (mmol/L)
HDL.........should be greater than .9 (mmol/L)
LDL..........0 to 4.0 (mmol/L)

Other 'in range' numbers you may see:

Sodium.........136 to 145 (mmol/L)
Potassium......3.5 to 5.1 (mmol/L)
Urea............2.1 to 7.1 (mmol/L) - measurement of renal function
Creatinine.....84 to 114 (micromol/L)
