Hi

It seems that paracetamol and ibuprofen stopped working for headaches for me.

I tried codamol and it doesn't work either.

Any suggestions to discuss with my gp?

As you say you need to discuss this with your GP we can’t make suggestions. But I would be keen for my GP to investigate the cause of the headaches if I was in your position.

This is what I would be doing.

I have a bit of a fight with my GP over the prescription anti inflammatory tablets I get, he is trying to cut back on the dosage I take.

Am I allowed to suggest a type of medication? If it suits your body (and of course your GP will advise) the tryptan family of medications help me out. Saved me from taking so many over the counter tablets which can give you rebound effects.

I never had much luck with painkillers, rarely when I take them for headaches can I say, "that's better, thank you pills".
When I had my first frozen shoulder I was given a veritable range of horse pills, which did very little but make me really constipated. Fortunately my physio was able to sort me out.
Having written the above the unknown, of course, is I don't know how I would have been if I hadn't of taken them....
As others have suggested, best to find the cause of the headaches, they are an output.
Wish you well as they are no fun.

Best pain relief tablets I ever had was Digesic, they were not for headaches tho'. I took them to shut my left knee down when I had bursitis in it.

They are not on the market anymore as they were banned yesrs ago,

We need to be careful not to breach the forum guidelines especially A11 which reads:
Important: Members are generally not Health Care Professionals, and those who are participate on the Forum as Members, not Health Care Professionals. Members are unable to diagnose any condition, or instruct in the alteration of medication, irrespective of personal or professional standing or experience”

As has been pointed out by @Rachox, Community rule A11 clearly states members are not allowed to diagnose conditions or advise on medications.
For this reason the the thread is being locked to further replies.
@Rabdos , the best person to discuss the headaches with is your GP. Hopefully you will find a solution.
