Hi
Newly diagnosed with type 2. Had issues when they tried to double metformin. On 500 a day
Sitting here with a chest infection feeling awful with tingling numb lips and tongue.
Tested blood sugar said 29.9 mmol/l
Don't understand. What can I do.

A reading of 29.9 mmol/l is extremely high.

Have you rang up your GP or Diabetic Nurse/Team?

Take another reading, if just as high then drink water and ring NHS Helpline on 111 for advice.

I agree, that is very high and may make you ill. Test again, drink loads of water, ring 111. Please don't wait.

What is your daily diet? What was your last HbA1c? 29 mmol/l is a worry, in and of itself, so something needs attention. Quickly

Would you let us know how you are getting on, please?

Remember that your you should wash your hands carefully before taking each reading as contaminants can affect readings. Best wishes.

Drink water in so much quantity to pee each hour, at 11 mmol/l body starts to excrete glucose right to urine. You have to clean it up. If you are able to walk (you have to feel very exhausted at this number) do 30m of walk and measure again. Remember, that meters are not very accurate at numbers over 11 so measure more than 1x at one time. And dont eat any carb till you get under 11.
