Insulin
So I took my insulin this morning (20 units Novorapid) for my breakfast, probably too much as I only had scrambled eggs. I'm still breathing heavy (not fast just heavy).

I can not check my BGL as I have no meter, tried contacting DSN, no reply, ringing up diabetes clinic, no reply. They also can't be bothered to make me another appointment! So I'm stuck trying to guess my BGLs.

Do I need another correction dose? I've only just taken my insulin, how long should I wait?

@Alex_B. You need to know your BG before you commit to using more insulin! Keep on to your diabetes team OR pop in to see your GP or diabetes clinic. You NEED to be able to test your blood

I would agree and add that your insulin will remain active for 4 hours post dose so please make sure you have a sweet drink around just in case.
DSNs will be in clinic and are unlikely to help you until later but you can call the Diabetes UK Helpline.
Let us know you've not o'd on the insulin as I am worried for you...Breathing not necessarily a symptom of high bgs btw.

Hi @Alex_B How come you don't have a meter ?

Can you call the meter company of your last one to advise them you don't have one and to send you one out urgently ? As other's have said it's dangerous to take insulin without knowing what your blood glucose levels are, otherwise ask your nurse to give you one, but please take care hun.

Hello, is there anyone who can take you to the diabetes centre or pharmacy for a blood meter? Have you asked your GP? I know they stock blood meters at my gp surgery. But please find a way to get a blood meter, I will highlight it'll be extremely dangerous to give any more insulin without knowing your blood reading.

You need to go out to your nearest pharmacy and buy a meter, or ring or call in to your surgery. You should have two meter's, so one is for back up, you need to get one asap.

I agree but if Alex can't get one from their DSN and cannot get to the shops as Alex relies on mum for transport then this would be the next best option.
