Hello and welcome.
I just want to reassure you that you have found the best place to get advice and support for diabetics.
I agree that it sounds like you test your bloods frequently so you are already set up to make a change.
If you let us know what you eat we may be able to give some alternate suggestions.
I read around on this site after being diagnosed and rapidly came to the decision that I should dramatically reduce my carbs (to less than 20 grams a day) to see what effect it had on my blood sugar levels. The effect it had was to reduce my blood sugar levels so that they remain in the non diabetic range.
That said- be careful of artificial sweetener as some of them do not suit my body- they increase my blood sugar levels.
Many in the medical profession still advocate a 'healthy' diet including 'healthy' carbs- well for most diabetics carbs are not healthy- they turn to glucose and your levels rise. It is all carbs- not just sugars not just white carbs but all.
I understand not wanting to be in this space. I don't enjoy a low carb diet but it is good for my body- my blood sugars are good, I've lost weight without trying and my cravings are less intense when I stick strictly low carbs.
Good luck- read around this is an awesome site with very generous people who have been where you are now- I've seen the phrase part of a club no-one wants to join.
Good luck- ask questions read around.
Welcome!
