Just found out today that i am type2, i have an appointment booked for 6 weeks time for another blood test. I havent got a clue what i can have to eat or not eat, my dr has put me on metformin 2 x day 500mg. Should i make an appointment to see a diabetic nurse or wait for my next blood test. i am going to phone my doctors up in the morning and find out what i am supposed to do. So confused now my head is spinning, im sure that i will come to grips with being diabetic its just such a shock. :?

don't worry  there are loads of friendly people here that will help you with any problems you have. i'm sure after your blood test you will get guided what to do next. it may take a while to get used to it all, but you will soon be fine! there are lots of food forums on here that should help you on the best foods to eat, and if you still have a question just ask :D
do let us know how you are getting on

I am newly diagnosed and it is such a shock at first and I was just told to stop eating sugar and come back in a month. Everything I have learned has been from this forum and I now have my levels under control and more importantly have taken control of the Diabetes and not let it control me. Somebody will be along soon with the beginners guide which has some great info. My advice would be to read, read and then read some more.

Hey Karen! Lots of us have been where you are, please try not to panic too much, it does get better. Like the advice before, read lots and listen to what the professionals tell you, then formulate a plan of action. It does feel better if you feel like you have some kind of control, making positive steps into diet and exercise and as boring as those things are, it really does help! Good luck and never worry about asking questions here, it's a gentle place to fall. :)

Hi Karen & welcome
Snap!, I am also a recent T2 and yes it is confusing, but there are lots of people on here with lots of good advice and experiences to help you. Ask questions it's the only way to learn, try to think of it as a new start, not the end of something :D
