hi

not sure if im the right place but i have had a fasting blood test and the result came back 4.4 or 44 and im a little confused the dr said there was no action but i get really shaky and sweaty sometimes and yesterday i was really dizzy and light headed i drink loads and ee to be tired even after a good sleep can anyone shed some light on this please xx

Hi teddy,

I'm guessing that was 4.4 mmol as 44 would be above most meters and 44 mg/dl would be really really low (I think). That doesn't sound like a diabetic reading - if anything it's a bit low. Were you having the test as a result of those symptoms - anything else that could be a cause?

Has your Dr said he will test you for other conditions? I also have an under active thyroid and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as type 2. Both the other problems can cause extreme tiredness.

i have had test for under active thyroid and diabetes all of which have come back fine but it doesnt help with these symptoms i have been having recently im going to make an appointment with my dr to dicuss the results and see if there is anything else going on. des the low reading mean im hypoglycemic

I was once told that hypoglycaemia is diagnosed at below 2.9mmol.
4.4 is perfectly normal.
