HELP!!!

Okay, something a bit odd happened to me earlier and my poor hubby has had to fill me in as I remember none of it.

A few hours ago I had apparently asked if we had any of the fun sized chocolate bars in the house (I have no idea why I would have asked this as the last time we had anything like that was Halloween last year) and he had said no.
About half an hour (ish) after that he said I had become very irritable, cranky and was saying that I was really hungry. I apparently then decided that it would be a good idea to sleep to see if that reduced the hunger and slept for about 2 hours.
When I woke up I seemed a bit "out-of-it" but was adamant I was going to cook dinner. He said he had to literally steer me away from the kitchen as I was really unsteady on my feet and told me that he'd bring me stuff to the table that I could chop for him.

By the time he'd gotten back to the living room I was (he thought) asleep, but sitting and slumped forward a bit. My eyes were closed and when he tried to wake me up I was unresponsive and very (for want of a better word) floppy-limbed. When my eyes did open, I wasn't able to focus at all and apparently wasn't able to talk.
He said I was really really hot, couldn't hold myself up properly and just kept mumbling but not making any sense.

He got me some iced water and had to force the straw past my lips to get me to drink which didn't help. After about 10-15 minutes the only thing he could think to was give me something sweet to see if it helped; so he took a small teaspoon of ice cream and had to force that past my lips as well.
He then tried iced diet coke and started to get very worried that I'd need an ambulance.

I don't know how long I was like that for; but he said it was well over 30 minutes until I was able to talk above mumbling. I kept saying I was hot and hungry and he said that I had asked where I was a couple of times.

I finally "came around" and was able to sit up properly, although I was still pretty unsteady and "out-of-it" and he started cooking dinner while keeping an eye on me.
I have eaten (pork chops and veggies) and feel alright now; a bit tired and fuzzy-headed and I've had a cup of tea. My temperature has gone down a bit and although my right eye keeps blurring a bit (it's been doing that all day, though) I feel able to focus a bit on things.

He did take my bloods and I'd gone from 18.4 this morning to 17.4 this afternoon and then 13.4 when he tested it.

Does anyone have any idea what on earth happened?
I'd like to be prepared if there's a chance of it happening again.....

Thank you,
~BF.

ETA - not sure if it's worth mentioning but this is now the third time in less than a month that I've gone non-responsive.

You need medical advice rather than a forum with those levels and symptoms I would think?

Hope you get sorted.

Ali

Ali - I know, but short of calling NHS Direct and waiting 4+ hours for them to call back I thought I'd ask you lovely people in case someone had had something similar and could offer advice :D

Hi BlindFaith!

With those symptoms, you really do need to see a doctor. It might have nothing to do with your diabetes - but your levels are really high (as you know). Please go back your doctor and get checked out.

Take care

I know one thing Blindfaith, if that was me I would be in an Ambulance by now heading to A&E, I really think that you should get checked.

BF Get to A&E NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! There are several possible things this could be, and nearly all of them are really serious and need fast action. PLEASE GO NOW!

Hubby called an ambulance after the second "black out" which thankfully only lasted a few minutes.
They came and checked me over; took note of my symptoms including the ones I'd had much earlier in the day - blurry vision, sensitivity to sunlight and slight nausea.

The verdict? A really bad migraine.
They're not sure if it's happened because of my blood sugar or because I'm so run down from my previous hospital stays or whether it was just a random occurrence. I'm under orders to take it easy for a couple of days and to make sure I take my proper dose of pain medications.

I feel a bit like I've been hit by a truck.

Thanks for the replies :)

So very relieved to hear you're OK!!! :D :D If your body is hot to the touch and you have prolonged disorientation it is always vital to go to A&E right away. These are the symptoms of meningitis and similar conditions that can be fatal. It's always safest to assume the worst and get checked out -- better safe than sorry. Do take care. Hope you start feeling better. Try some of that music you were recommending to me for post-hypo!

I really hope you are feeling better. That all sounds really worrying. As Roy said, I'd be in an ambulance and off to hospital straight away with those symptoms.
Take great care

Hope that your feeling better today. Have you had migrains before? So lucky that you were at home with hubby when this happened and not on your own shopping or such like.

Thanks guys :)

I'm feeling a bit like I got run over or something, very tired and my head is thumping.
I've been sleeping on and off today and drinking loads of water.

I know I've had migraines in the past but they have never come on like this - I would feel dizzy and then I'd be sick but I'd never have any of the symptoms I had yesterday.
The paramedics said that perhaps my high BS caused a few nasty symptoms and that I have to monitor it as if it happens again I may need to go into hospital for various tests.

I thought i would just comment if this episode is out of the ordinary and ur husband notices that i think he should make u eat sugar immediately and calk an ambulance too the sugar ia making u come back too so he needs to act quicker or make sure u tell all ur friends and family wats happened so if u have another episode they can act a bit quicker and ur husband too.
