Thanks carol,

Yes he does take them with food. I recently got him switched from metformin to the sr version and he seems to have noticed a difference already with the new medication!!

Hopefully he continues to improve!

Metformin is know to cause stomach upsets. My DN wanted to up mine to 2,000 and I said I couldn't take any more stomach upsets.
I think the reason they prescribe the regular Metformin rather than the sr is because it is cheaper.
I'm now on the sr and stomach has improved dramatically.
Good luck to your Dad, I'm sure he will feel much better on the sr.
I go for 3 months checks with the DN if I am a little high. I've recently got better control, so on 6 monthly checks. Then it will be yearly checks if kept under control
