helping kids/young adults with diabetes

Hello there every one, im quite new to this, iv been diabetic for 17 yrs now i was 9 nearly 10 so im lucky really cos iv known no different but i really want to help kids and young adults who just found out that there diabetic or are struggling, i was always told by my mum dont give up any my sport as i used to play football and all over sports going apart from swiming !! (gave up last december), and i think its really important for kids to relise there same as other people but as i looked at it our body is like a car we need insulin like a car needs petrol !!(i got told that 17yrs ago ) , or there arte probley parents scared to let there kids go cos of hypos etc, if any one can help me find out how i can do it please email me on [email protected] as i prob wont get much chance too come back on here offten

Ask your local childrens clininc what services are in your area then contact them and ask if they want a volunteer. You will have to do a CRB police check. Charities and community groups are always keen to have volunteers especially if they have a police check and some experience.
