My name is Johnson, I was diagnosed pre-diabetic last year. As of recently I've been really paranoid about it as I haven't been eating that well. So yesterday I had lunch and I didn't quite realize that chipotle's rice bowls had so many calories and carbs , but on top of that I had tortilla chips with it (1300 calories, 122g of carbs) total. I typically only eat maybe one or two meals a day.

I have chronic anxiety disorder and am a very paranoid person. So I decided to buy a one-touch and some test strips to ease my worrying. Well 3 hours after I had eaten yesterday my blood sugar levels were 331. I was immediately freaked out after reading that the normal levels were somewhere around 140 after a meal, and from what I understand it doesn't matter the size of the meal.

Later in the day I had a 6oz salmon and some vegetables. About 3 hours after that I decided to go to sleep and tested my blood sugar again and it was 122. When I woke up this morning, (10 hours later) my level was 140. I'm still pretty shook up about everything, I'm assuming that I'm diabetic. I guess I won't know for sure until I see my doctor.

Anyways, I'll probably be asking a lot of questions, especially about food choices and such as I've done a lot of research and read a lot of conflicting information.

Thanks for reading,
-Johnson

Hi Johnson. Welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately there is a lot of conflicting information around. There's also a lot of misinformation, much of it coming from health professionals.

The good folk around here will see you right, just ask questions and you'll get plenty of answers.

Good luck.

Hi and welcome. Yes, those levels are diabetic which I'm sure the doctor will confirm but they could be worse (mine were). You've made the right decision to get a meter and you are already looking at diet. You need to forget calories and just think carbs as these are the potential enemy as your meter will show you. Keep them down and have enough proteins, fats and veg etc to make you feel full. Your blood sugar should go down as well as any excess weight. Do come back with any questions.
