I did a medical checkup and the reports showed that my A1C is 6.5%. Weight was 227 lbs. LDL was 5. HDL was 0.8, TG was 2.3.
I went to an Endocrinologist and was told to diet and exercise and to return 1 month later to decide if i need medication.
I was 202 lbs when i returned a month ago. No medication and asked to return 2 months later.
2 months later, I weight 189lbs, A1C 5.6%. LDL was 3. HDL maintained at 0.8. TG down to 1.7. No medication, continue to diet and exercise.
Will have to come back 4 months later.
My question is "Am i diabetic or was i a diabetic?"

Welcome to the forum @fash. Your initial reading of 6.5% would be an HbA1c of 48 (ifcc). The 3 month retest reading of 5.6% would be an HbA1c of 38 (ifcc).
In the UK diabetic range is 48 and above, pre-diabetic is 42-47, and non-diabetic is below 42.
So your initial reading would be in the diabetic range, though would be regarded as 'borderline' as readings are rounded up/down to the nearest figure.
You have brought it down into the non-diabetic range - well done.
But you will need to continue to maintain your diet and exercise regime or you will probably go back up into the diabetic range.

You were borderline diabetic, though with numbers like that you could actually still have been in the prediabetic range. You're doing everything right though, it seems, to take control of your bloodsugars. Well done! Keep it up!
