Hi. Daisy should be along shortly with general guidance to the newly diagnosed and links to various parts of the forum. It's very unlikely that either the cholesterol or blood pressure have caused the diabetes, although it's good to keep them under control to help minimise any damage that elevated blood glucose might cause. With many of us including myself we have no idea where the Type 2 came from. Yes, you are a bit on the young side for Type 2 so your GP might give you some tests to ensure it is Type 2 and not one of the other variants. Are you overweight? Your GP may keep you on a good diet for a few months before blood tests to check your average BG. Then, if necessary, tablets will be added. Most of us do test our own BG with a meter which you can usually obtain FOC from one of the manufacturers. Good luck and do ask any more questions you may have.
