Who Am I ?
Hello everyone ! I'm Suzanne, 18 years old female from Poland, diagnosed with diabetes and turner's syndrome, both when I was 7 years old.,
What's my story ?
Most of my childhood I didn't care about my diabetes. My mother had a lot of troubles raising me with this desases. It was really difficult to explain, especially to child like me, how important my visits to doctors are.
I always had trouble managing my diabetes, because of growth hormones. They caused a huge insulin resistance when i was taking it. My avg.. HBA1c was 6.2 - 6.6 %, So i t wasn't so bad.
I've never been too school, or maybe, for only the first month of pre-school. Kids in Poland are not kind, and they treated me like some kind of monster, so teachers are coming to me, and it's probably not going to change ,but I'm lacking contact with other people.
When i went to high school, I had an accident, where I had the worst cause of hypoglycemia possible. Whole 8 hours of the night wasted on waking up, and taking next doses of sugar.. After that, I've started to manage my diabetes really badly, causing myself hyperglycemia on purpose, just to take 2/3j before bed and to be assured, that I'm not going to have 60/70 sugar.
Unfortunately, It raised my hba1c to 7.9. Now, I'm on a journey to fix it,and start taking insulin on evening yet again. It's hard, and it feels like someone took away some kind of drug from me, But I hope to get some support from community here, and my family.
We can't really count .n my specialist doctors, because we're living in a complete middle in nowhere, in poland. Doctors here are not kind, or good at all. I'm the only case of someone with both, turners sydrom, and diabetes type 1 in whole Poland, so doctors don't know how to treat me.
I often need to experiment, and risk my own health to later, get the benefits from my "bravery"
