Hi everyone, I'm 51 years old and was diagnosed type 2 about a year ago. I'm on meds for high bp and cholesterol and I had an acute angina attack 3 years ago and had 2 stents fitted and I have ischemic heart disease. Last December I had a partial thyroidectomy and am now just starting the merry dance of finding the correct dosage of meds to control hypothyroidism. Otherwise life's just peachy! :) My BG has been up since the middle of January, between 9.3 ish to 11.8. The docs have said that they have to get my thyroid sorted before they can do anything about my sugar, as it's the thyroid that's causing havoc with my sugar and my triglycerides. I'm going to start tomorrow and hit the carbs on the head and try to bring down my bg before I take shares in diet coke! (It'll be cheaper that way  ) By the way, if anyone has any better ideas as to what else I can drink, it would be appreciated. I do drink lots of cold water, but for some reason, sometimes water seems to make me more thirsty (duh?) :? ) I'm glad I found this site where people know what they're talking about, having worn the t shirts. It's so much easier to trust the advice of someone who's been there, done that etc. I'd like to thank everyone in advance for your help, advice and understanding when I spit my vitriole about being sick and tired of being sick and tired! I do hate whingeing to my hubby and friends, but some days, donchya just feel like spitting the dummy out and having a moan? By the way, some of my meds like heart meds, diabetes and thyroid meds are sorted in Spain, which is where I had my angina attack and was fitted with the stents. They are doing a wonderful job and still following up on me. I'm going to have a wander and see what there is to see on here. No doubt I'll catch up with some of you later. Thanks, and it's great to meet you.
