Donna living on Anglesey recently moved here and trying to control my Diabetes I’m currently Getting used to the Libre 2 monitoring quite expensive but loving the ease of use and being able to just see where my bloods are instantly I’m 56 and have Type 2 diabetes I cant have any medication at the moment due to my liver being abnormal. I was on 2000mg Metformin and 500mg Sitagliptin every day and my weight was 122kg in September 2022 after spending a week in hospital to help my liver I was taken off all Diabetic medication to help and now currently 103kg. I love the Libre 2 CGM because it’s keeping me on track and is a great help due to having fibro and the finger pricks affects my hands terribly. But now in a much better headspace than I was ……but it’s hard very hard.

Welcome! Sounds like you’re doing well.

I had a non-alcoholic fatty liver when I started low carb, and my triglycerides were high. Amazed my local surgery staff, who hadn't read the recent research, when my triglycerides improved and the fatty liver resolved - the locum GP kept saying I was on a low carb, HIGH FAT diet (his emphasis).
Might be worth looking at if your blood sugars still spike too high after meals?

Hi thank you i will have a look, to be fair my bloods since September have rarely gone to 9 I’m sitting constantly around 4.8 and max about 8 although sometimes on a morning I do get the dawn phenomenon and its around 7. although I was diagnosed in 2018 it wasn’t till i moved to Anglesey that I was checked so I’m still learning.

Hello and welcome

I'm about the same age as you and also self fund a Libra from time to time- not very often but just so I can get an overall picture.

I am glad you are in a better head space. I completely appreciate that it can be very hard. I personally found the thought of having to live low carb devastating at first. Now I'm fine most of the time though occasionally find it difficult.

It does sound like you are doing really well so that must feel good even when it is really hard.

Good luck and welcome.
