Not to be able to do the things I was once able to do!
Hi, I have been a diabetic (type 2) since 2010 and currently taking Metformin 500mg x2. My last blood test showed that my blood sugar was raised so I shall be attending a diabetic clinic soon.
I had a brain haemorrhage in 2008 which I had to have an emergency brain surgery, I had an aneurym that ruptured, survival was only 30% at that time. Unfortunately I had 2 aneurysms and last year I had another brain surgery to protect the other aneurysm but unfortunately during surgery that caused a stroke/bleed so now left with multiple infarctions. I find that controlling my diabetes a bit difficult at times, I am aware about the diet aspects of it all but my neurosurgeon feels that they maybe a chemical imbalance, however, I have to maintain good blood results as I do not want any further medical problems, it's enough to deal with what I have now from the haemorrhages. It would be great to get to know you on here and share information and advice with our diabetes.

Take care
Myratas

Hi Myratas and welcome to the forum, sounds like you have been through it a bit lately, hope things start to get better for you from now on in.

What sort of diet are on for your cardiac problems perhaps if we know what you can and cant eat from that point of view we may be able to suggest a diet that will help your diabetes too, I dont want to start making suggestions that may impact on your other health issues :D

Hope you find the forum useful

Hi Myratas and welcome to the forum :) As Sid has said, when we know what your diet restrictions are we will try and help you to maintain the good blood levels that you need to have. I would like to emphasise the importance of testing as this will tell you what effect certain foods have on your levels. Basically, you should first take a fasting test immediately on waking (before doing anything like taking a shower which will probably make your levels rise), then test before meals and two hours after so that you can see what effect the foods you eat have on your levels. Test also before you go to bed. I hope we can help you to get good control of your diabetes. :)
