Hi there,
Im Sylvia and Ive been diabetic 2 years. Ive type 2 and for the first year took metformin, then was told I could mange by diet only and ended 3 months ago back on metformin trying to get my head round Im diabetic for life even though I have type 2. My family, Dad, brother and son are all insulin users and convinced me I dint have diabetes if I didnt take medication but I now know differently. Im hoping on here I can meet up with other people who have similar problems so before I write and essay. I'll say bye for now Sylvia :)

Know how you feel I still haven't got my head round it but it has only been 3 months lol
Got my first blood test in a couple of weeks since diagnosis and I am dreading it my last one was 119
Look forward to reading your essay I have one on here also :-)

hehe your doing just fine :) this place is great once you find your way around :)

My last one was 84 and that was April was seeing the nurse yeasterday and she took another so will get the results next week, fingers crossed Ive got it back below the target which Im told is 59 so 58 will do me :). I wasn't really going to write an essay coz I didnt think people would read it :(

i think the target is 50 :( so the doc once told me anyway.....they are on the right if you are using a computer but if you are using the app i dont know so i ony use the : ) smiey as i can type that one hehe :):)

i cant see them when i use the app, theres probly a way but i dont know it, on the computer there is a box on the right with all of them that you just click on

The target maybe 50 but my nurse tols me I had to get under 59 this time so as I said 58 will do then we'll work at being 50 in 3 months, I work in baby steps not big leaps :) Found then, now why did I not see them last night, may be it was getting late or maybe thats just me, but have them now thanks :D

Now using apps is something else I have to get my head round. Got a new smart phone the begining of the month but am going to have to wait till my granddaughter to come visit in August to give me lessons before I can use them :?

I bought my mum a ipad mini last week, she is struggling lol, all good fun

Hello and welcome!

Technology can be fiddly but it can be a world of help once you get a handle on it. I help my grandma with her laptop and iPhone so she can catch up on her news, send emails and do her banking online etc :3 So sweet of your granddaughter to help

We're all here to help and glad you are aware of your condition so you can manage it. If you ignored it because your family told you that you weren't diabetic then that'd be bad >_<

Have a welcome cuddle x

Hi LittleWolf,

Tell me about it, I got a tablet at the same time but again will wait for August before tackling that.

I did ignore it for a year and now am back on metformin but met with a peer support worker who has helped me get my head round the fact that even type 2's have it for life and Im working not only to change my diet to suit the diabetes again but to lose weight as well. She also recomended this forum to me, I just wish there had been a peer support worker around when I was first diagnosed then I wouldnt need the metformin again but then again I came of it once so can do again :D
