Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

Thank you I tried the sugar free one I didn't like them
Is there a sugar free sweet you do like? If so maybe best to avoid the polos altogether and chose the sugar free stuff you like. Although eating too many sugar free sweets can upset your tummy as the sweeteners used can have a laxative effect.

How many of the polos do you eat at a time? If it’s just one or two a day and no more then maybe you can have a couple now & then as a treat? But any more than that would probably be bad for your blood sugar.

When I was first diagnosed, I didn't actually understand what carbohydrates were or what relevance they had.

Just to check @julieclarke , do you understand what other posters are talking about when they're asking about carbohydrate/sugars, and why it's important/how they affect your blood sugars?
I have the same question julie..

Ok , the spearmint polos have a lot of sugar.

Sugar is a sort of carb.
This is what can make your blood sugar high.

It is not good for your diabetes.

ok can i give me some info about carbs
Ok we’ll try to help you - remember this chart we posted for you - if you click on it it takes you to information on carbs

So those things in the green list are good. The ones in the amber list are ok now and then - the ones in the red list are best avoided.

Sometimes I find when I’m looking at new information it helps me to read with someone else. Do you have someone you can read it with & talk about it?
