Hi to you all,
Firstly this is the first time I have entered a forum of any kind, and believe it or not just getting to grips using a computer.
Well I'm a mam to a 14yr old Type 1 diabetic boy, who at times does a great impression of Kevin the teenager.
He was diagnosed in Feb 07 after 3 wks of me taking him back and forward to the Dr's, and me repeatedly asking him if there was a possibility of him being diabetic, even on the morning prior to him being admitted to hospital with DKA, the nurse at the Dr's told me not to worry even though as she said 'He was sky high with ketones and sugar'. Needless to say he was rushed to hospital in a semi-concious state. After his diagnosis, I took the matter up with the Dr, I got a letter of apology, but my faith in that Dr, whom I really liked, has been shattered. I realise Dr's are only human and errors can be made, and the outcome would have still been the same. To me, he nearly cost me my son.
Anyway over 2 yrs later, here I am.
The reasons I have joined up to this forum is the valuable information, knowledge, support your users have, also I may be able to help others with my own experiences, I would also like to make forum friends etc, and to know despite everything my sanity is still in tact..haha.
My son takes Nova Rapid and Lantus, his last Hb1 was 6.8 as of 23.04.09
Thank you to all, best wishes,
Heidi
