Not being able to have chocolate or alcohol without feeling like a death sentence is being passed!
As was here before about 2 years ago when first diagnosed but due to the forum changing blah, blah I had to create a new ID. I was Linoleum ( its a Sylvian music reference! ) but now SandyfromBristol. Diagnosed 2 and half years ago and after a recent scare with my eyes and a TOTAL change of lifestyle I'm very proud to say my BS readings are BANG ON PERFECT :-)
Yep had a diabetic eye screening whre they found malecular leakage at the back of my eye, and although diagnosed 2 and half years ago the consultant thinks I've been diabetic for TEN years!!!

Anyway, there and then he decided to give me laser to both eyes, more to the left than the right and I have to go back in 8 weeks for a review but there's nothing like the fear of god to change your habits is there? Consultant says if I keep my BS down it shouldn't get worse, so thats what I'm doing,as I don't feel the need to get a guide dog JUST yet!

Changing the subject, you girls got any tips for covering up old scars that don't fade on your legs now that the Summers coming and we have to get them out!

Also tried to put my pic up but the size you're asking for is so minsucle and I haven't got the function to shrink the pics I have got, Anyone can do that for me if I email you some ?

Cheers guys!

Sandy

Hi Sandy.
Welcome back to the site. You probably know your way around very well.
However, if you have any questions we will do our best to give you answers.

Ken.

Thanks Ken :-)

Oh you know , where you cut your leg shaving, drunkenly fell over one New Years Night and if my shoe rubbed or something. They're all healed I'm literally talking about the old scar marks. I tried that oil stuff , whats it called, you know the one for stretch marks etc? I may just start using fake tan to make them look less obvious. Just cos I'm diabetic I still want to look attractive. I'm a woman FIRST and a diabetic second :!:

Hi Sandy,
I found myself being recently diagonised that any cut's are not healing and the ones that are have left a scar!
Are you talking bio something or else other oil?
I have found that does not work myself! I hope you are okay!

Hi Sandy

Just to confirm I am right and dandy and don't have gangrene or anything and believe me I know ALL about that as watched my dad die slowly with both legs amputated due to being a very poorly controlled diabetic. :( I have no intention of going the same way and I'm very proud to say that my control is excellent and I don't smoke like he did which helps.

What I'm talking about is fadey marks left on my skin LONG after cuts have healed and I heal fairly quickly when I do get a cut or a blister but I get left with a fadey scar which looks absolutely GORGEOUS...NOT...

Thats all..its purely a vanity question. I want to look attractive like most women do, its not really a specific diabetic question really more of a beauty question. I have tried Bio Oil yes. But no joy.

Fake tan it is then!

Hi Sandy
Sorry about your dad! Glad that you have good control!
i have tried butter milk cream, used for stertch marks etc! I have a horrid scar down my leg that i can't get rid of!
I think that it might have to be fake tan! I have done that once! Back in the day when they brough it out in tins, about 15 years ago! No body told me that it took 5 minutes to dry! Yes i know should of read the label! My whie jeans got tanned into the bargain! Lol...
Would not of minded but was off to my sisters wedding! Oh yes the amount of questions, oh they are nice jeans where did you get them from?
In the end i said they were a one off pair of designer jeans! It worked for me thank god!
I don't like the scar that i have! On friday 13th last year went for a walk fell over and needed stitches never gone since! Skirts have to touch my ankle as it is that far down!
Nowadays i wear leggins!
