Hi everyone i'm new to all this my name is Bob and i'm 55 with type 2 which i've had for about 3 years now. I am now taking medication METFORMIN and GLIMPIRIDE and have got to lose some weight so i'm looking for some recipes and tips for dieting.

Hi and welcome,
some type 2s should be along soon with good diet advice :)

Hi and welcome. The key is to reduce your carbs which will help with weight loss and blood sugar reduction. Set yourself a daily carb limit of, say, 200gm or less such as 150gm. Read the packaging labels and look around these forums for typical carb values for fruit and flour-based products.

Hello and welcome. I follow the same approach as daibell with an intake of about 150gm of carb and the rest of my calories in other forms. Low GI forms of carb are better to have than the higher ones. There is also a low/very low carb approach practised by many where thy limit carbs to 60 or 30gm/day and increase there fat intake. This is known as Low Carb High Fat (LCHF). Of course you can do something in between or different. You have to find the lifestyle that suits you.

The key t losing weight is eating less calories than your body needs. That simple but so hard to do. Exercise doesn't really help to a huge extent with the weight loss but it does help a lot with normalizing your blood sugar levels and improves your insulin resistance

Ask more questions and we can all help you if you need to.
