Hi, my sweet tooth is really craving chocolate or ice cream and I don't know what I can and can't have it's starting to get me down now. I was diagnosed last Wednesday and don't see anyone until the 3rd of April. Can anyone recommend any ice cream etc please x

Some people have recommended the Moser Roth 85% dark chocolate from Aldi.

May be tempted by "sugar free" biscuits and sweets - but a brief look at the carb content (still very high) should give you second thoughts.

How about Greek yoghurt? To this I add organic cocoa powder which I get from Holland and Barrett and also a little sweetner either Truvia from Sainsbury's. Not ice-cream but low carb. Good luck

Those Hartley's 10-cal jelly pots? They're 0.4g carbs a pot. The no-sugar jelly versions are quite urgh though...10 cal ones are much better.

I'm not a particular fan of them by themselves, but if you shave 85% chocolate on them, they become delicious (and it's only a tiny bit of chocolate that you use when you shave it with a grater). You can add a couple of raspberries. Or a scoop of the Oppo ice cream. Or you can whip double cream on top.

All in all that's not many carbs if you're low carbing.

If you fancy a hot chocolate, then there is an easy way of making it low carb.

You just need boiling water, cocoa powder (that is real cocoa powder, not hot chocolate powder), cream and a sweetener.

Put a couple of heaped teasp of cocoa in a mug and add a splash of water and mix it into a paste. Then add hot water with a dash of cream (adding the cream like you would add milk to tea). Then sweeten to taste.

It isn’t quite like the modern sweet hot chocolates, but once you have mixed it to your taste, it really hits the spot!
